Dual Front Mid-Pipe Catback with M Performance Style Muffler
The Fi EXHAUST BMW G87 M2 valvetronic exhaust system combines our dual front mid-pipe catback with an M Performance–style muffler and diffuser for the ultimate blend of sound and styling. Designed from premium T304 stainless steel, the dual front mid-pipe features an integrated X-pipe, optimizing exhaust flow and creating a sharp, high-pitched motorsport tone that stands out from stock and other aftermarket systems.
This version is available with the M Performance–style triangular tip layout and matching diffuser, giving your G87 M2 the aggressive OEM+ look. It can be fitted on both M Performance and non-M Performance models. For non-M cars, the optional diffuser allows you to convert the classic quad exit into the signature M Performance design.
Please note that the actual product may vary in appearance depending on the year of the car and area. The exhaust system is also subject to changes to the design over an extended time period. Product pictures are for illustration purposes only.
Exhaust Setup Configurations
- Q: What exhaust versions are available for the BMW G87 M2?
A: We offer three catback configurations:
- Dual Front Mid-Pipe Catback – Featuring an X-pipe for smoother flow and sharper high-pitched tone.
- Single Mid-Pipe Catback – Produces a deeper, throatier growl.
- Single Mid-Pipe (Only) – For use with the factory muffler (cutting required).
The muffler is offered in two versions: a classic quad tip side exit or an M Performance–style triangular tip layout. The M Performance–style muffler can be fitted on both M Performance and non-M Performance models. For non-M Performance cars, drivers can add the optional M Performance diffuser to convert the classic quad exit into the distinctive M Performance look.
Each can be paired with either a catless downpipe or 200-cell catted downpipe for added performance and aggressiveness.
- Q: What’s the difference between single and dual mid-pipe setups?
A:
- Dual Front Mid-Pipe Catback: Delivers a high-pitched, race-inspired tone with an aggressive character at high RPMs, thanks to the X-pipe design.
- Single Mid-Pipe Catback: Offers a deeper, throatier note with a refined rasp signature of the S58.
Both are engineered for maximum flow and balanced sound.
A: There’s 5 versions how exhaust ca be configured without including downpipes:
- Dual Front Mid Pipe catback with classic quad side exit tip layout.
- Dual Front Mid Pipe catback with M-Performance style tip layout.
- Single Mid Pipe catback with classic quad side exit tip layout.
- Single Mide Pipe catback with M-Performance style tip layout.
- Single Mid Pipe with OEM/stock muffler
Exhaust Installation
- Q: Is cutting required when installing a full Fi catback system?
- A: No. Our full catback is 100% bolt-on, connecting to OEM mounting points. No cutting or welding is required.
- Q: Is cutting required for the single mid-pipe when paired with the OEM muffler?
- A: Yes. Cutting is required just behind the factory center resonator. OEM pipes include dimples marking the cut location.
- Q: What’s included with the single mid-pipe kit?
- A: The kit includes the single mid-pipe and link pipes for direct connection to the OEM muffler.
Exhaust Valve Control
- Q: Can I control the exhaust valves with factory settings?
A: Fi valvetronic mufflers integrate seamlessly with BMW’s factory system. To activate valve control, you must press the exhaust/sound button on the center dashboard. Once activated, valve operation is linked with drive modes (Sport / Sport Plus).
However, keep in mind that even when activated, the factory system does not fully open the valves. In Sport or Sport Plus, valves may only open 30–50% and continue to modulate depending on gear and throttle input. For example, in 4th gear they only open fully at 70–90% throttle.
With the Fi Pro Remote Control, you can:
- Open or close valves 100% on demand
- Bypass BMW’s ECU restrictions
- Experience the purest, most aggressive Fi sound at all times.
That’s why our recommendation is to pair our exhaust with the remote to gain full control of the exhaust valves.
- Q: Can the BMW sound button / exhaust button on the center dashboard work together with the Fi Pro Remote?
- A: No. The factory BMW sound button and the Fi Pro Remote operate on separate systems and are not interchangeable. You’ll need to choose either the factory control or the Fi Pro Remote for valve operation.
- Q: What’s the difference in sound between Sport and Sport Plus modes?
- A: In Sport Plus, sound is louder with more pronounced pops & bangs, created by BMW’s factory ECU mapping.
Car Model Compatibility
- Q: Which BMW M2 models are compatible with this system?
A: The Fi EXHAUST system is compatible with:
- G87 M2
- G87 M2 LCI (Facelift)
- G87 M2 CS
Available for both Euro-spec (with OPF) and U.S.-spec (without OPF) models.
- Q: What’s the difference between Euro-spec and U.S.-spec exhausts?
- A: Euro-spec (OPF) models have OPF emission filters, while U.S.(Non-OPF) models do not include OPF filters, allowing freer flow.
ECU Tuning / Will this trigger a CEL (Check Engine Light)?
- Q: Do I need tuning when installing this exhaust? Will it cause a CEL?
A: U.S.-spec models (no OPF): Installing a BMW G87 M2 catback exhaust on U.S. cars does not require any ECU tuning, and it will not trigger a check engine light (CEL).
Euro-spec models (with OPF): On Euro cars, removing the OPF filters as part of a catback upgrade will trigger a CEL unless the ECU is coded or flashed to account for the change.
Alternatively, the car can be flashed with BMW’s official Non-OPF factory software, which disables OPF monitoring without requiring a custom tune. However, after mandatory BMW remote software updates, the ECU may revert back to OPF settings and require reflashing again.
Downpipes: A Stage 2 tune is recommended when upgrading downpipes, as removing catalytic converters will trigger a CEL without ECU adjustments.
Dyno Results
- Q: How much power can I gain with tuning over stock?
A: With our catback exhaust, intake upgrades, HJS catted downpipe and BM3 multi-map calibration, the G82 M4C goes from a baseline 490 WHP to as much as 604 WHP — a gain of +114 WHP and +72 lb-ft of torque at the wheels (Dyno Chart).
Thanks to BM3’s 4 selectable maps, you can choose the power level that fits your driving:
- Stock Baseline: 490 WHP
- MAP 2: +40 WHP → 530 WHP
- MAP 3: +85 WHP → 574 WHP
- MAP 4 (Max Performance): +114 WHP / +72 lb-ft → 604 WHP
The dyno test was conducted with our Dual Front-Mid Pipe version catback on BMW G82 M4 Competition (S58) model.

Valve
All Fi EXHAUST exhaust systems are equipped with valvetronic technology. This technology is not only used to control sound volume, but also enhance overall performance of the vehicle. Before the inception of this technology, horsepower and torque were irreconcilable contradictions in the design of exhaust systems. This allowed sports cars to have high torque power at low rev speeds and even higher horsepower capability at high rev speeds.
Catless Standard Version
The ultra-high flow catless downpipes remove restrictive factory catalytic convertor. They increase exhaust gas flow and performance gains, produce higher sound volume. And is usually recommended option going further with ECU tuning.
Catless Sensor Version
The ultra-high flow catless downpipes remove restrictive factory catalytic convertor. They increase exhaust gas flow and performance gains, produce higher sound volume. The downpipe is also equipped with a dummy oxygen sensor to reduce a chance of the check engine light (CEL) being triggered.
Sport 200Cell
With the larger cells and fast exhaust flow rate, it is smooth, durable and do not have refractory wool burn-out problems. The higher the number of the cells, the smaller and denser the hole is. The higher the back pressure, the more it can enhance torque performance, while the opposite is true for increasing horsepower.Converting your stock catalyst converter (400~800 CPSI) into our metallic catalyst converters will result in significant enhancements in airflow discharge that circumvents the limitations and parameters set by car manufacturers.
Fi EXHAUST Pro Control System
Fi EXHAUST Pro Control System control system consist of intelligent control box, sporty 2 button style remote control and mobile App.
*The mobile App scans and deletes CEL using manual or Auto scan on the engine startup.
* Monitor real-time valve status with Fi EXHAUST Pro App’s intuitive and friendly interface.
* Assign Auto Mode data values. Afterwards the system will intelligently detect engine RPM/Speed/Turbo Boost and turn on the valves.
* Each remote control button can be assigned with 1 function to open/close the valves or activate Auto Mode delivering more precision in the hands of the driver.
* The design is smooth and offers a nice grip, and the aluminum alloy ring can be customized in 14 different colors or switched to forged carbon with a unique marble like texture.

Compatibility with OEM sport button/mode.
The intelligent valve functionality can be controlled using OEM sport button/mode to switch between valves ON/OFF and regulate desired sound volume. FI EXHAUST remote control is not needed and is an optional upgrade to have more control over exhaust valve behavior.

Ceramic Coating
Fi EXHAUST eliminates traditional thermal insulation materials that contain toxic substances, and directly coats the exhaust pipe with a nano-ceramic coating to protect from corrosion, reduce heat exposure to heat sensitive components in the engine bay and keeps temperature low. It’s a great way to improve longevity of the exhaust and other components prone to thermal degradation like wiring.
NON-OPF / OPF
OPF is also known as particulate filter or GPF gasoline particulate filter. In recent years, new car models will be equipped with this filter on the exhaust system in order to comply with increasingly stringent environmental regulations. Fi EXHAUST versions will also be developed on OPF and non-OPF vehicles to make sure fitment is precise.
